Rabbit Hole
Pulitzer Prize-Winning Drama about life after tragedy
by David Lindsay-Abaire
A story of loss, heartbreak, and forgiveness
laced with wit, compassion, and searing honesty
September 18, 19, 20; 25, 26, 27; October 2, 3, 4
A successful suburban couple must pick up the pieces after devastating tragedy tests their marriage. The Corbetts have everything a family could want, until a life-shattering accident leaves them drifting perilously apart. Rabbit Hole charts their bittersweet search for comfort. By the author of Fuddy Meers and Wonder of the World.
If this were a movie, we think it would be rated “PG”.

Leaving Iowa
Warm, Nostalgic, Family Vacation Comedy
by Tim Clue and Spike Manton
A toast to parents from the “Greatest Generation” and a roast of their dedication to the road trip
November 6, 7, 8; 13, 14, 15; 20, 21, 22
Simultaneously hilarious and touching: Driving across Iowa, Don relives the vacations he spent as a boy trapped in the family station wagon en route to uninteresting sites. Shifting smoothly from the present to the annual, torturous vacations of his childhood, it will keep you laughing, remembering the childhood vacations you tried to forget.
If this were a movie, we think it would be rated “PG”.

2010 Snowdance
10 Minute Comedy Festival
Sixth Anniversary Festival!
Competition of original 10 minute plays
2010: January 29, 30, 31; February 5, 6, 7;
February 12, 13, 14; 19, 20, 21; 26, 27, 28
It’s the event that made Racine “Home of the 10 Minute Comedy Competition”! The hit playwriting competition draws entries from around the globe. Judges choose the best to produce. Then, the audience votes on who should win the cash prize. It’s original comedy plus OOHPs’ hijinks. Utah has Sundance; Racine has Snowdance! A great reason for season tickets – this popular event sells out.
These plays are not yet rated; they are not yet written!
Some “R-rated” words or themes may be included.

The Beauty Queen of Leenane
An electric drama with abundant black comedy
by Martin McDonagh
An alarming blend of hysterical comedy, grand melodrama, horrifying violence, and tragedy
March 19, 20, 21; 26, 27, 28; April 2, 3
Lonely spinster Maureen is trapped taking care of her elderly, cantankerous mother, Mag. The two are locked in a duel of wills, bound in painfully mean patterns of attack and counterattack. When Maureen finally discovers romance, things get horribly out of hand. This modern classic is full of clever twists and bitter tragedy leading up to its stunning conclusion. McDonagh’s Tony Award-winning black comedy unleashes all the dark humor and rich language for which he has been internationally praised.
If this were a movie, we think it would be rated “R”.

Theatre / Schmeatre
All new sketch comedies by OOHP
Short, unrelated original scripted comedy
May 14, 15; 21, 22; 28, 29; June 4, 5 (no Sundays)
Back for a third year! OOHPs’ sketches deliver lots of silliness and satire. By “original,” we mean all of these sketches will be written by Over Our Head Players. By “sketches,” we mean short pieces with minimal technical elements. And by “comedies,” we mean funny! Once again, we’ll feature live music from some top musicians. From the folks who pen the popular Snowdance hijinks, Theatre/Schmeatre is sure to sell out.
These pieces are not yet rated. We haven’t seen them, either!
Theatre/Schmeatre aims for “PG-13” material.

SUMMER BONUS ** SUMMER BONUS
Limited Engagement: Six Performances Only
Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll
Visceral, funny monologues by Eric Bogosian
Nonstop, comedic tour through an oddball mind
Summer 2009: July 31, August 1, 2; August 7, 8, 9
Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll attacks the underbelly of the American dream. Several actors perform hilarious, riveting, often disturbing monologues that push the envelope with characters who live on the edges of society: junkies, losers, artists, rock stars, and working men. Together, they poke fun at the excesses and absurdities of a generation weaned on rock and roll.
** Note: not included in season ticket packages. Season subscribers can save on Sex, Drugs, Rock & Roll tickets.
If this were a movie, we think it would be rated “PG-13.”
