July 28, new street lights were powered
up to signal the completion of the
roadway, sidewalk, and brick paving on
the south side of Sixth Street and traffic
was switched from the north to the new
south roadway on July 29. The south side
of Sixth is open to one westbound lane of
through-traffic with a parking lane for
delivery vehicles and customers.
Work next began on the north roadway
and on July 30, crews removed the old
north side light poles. By the end of last
week, crews completed the pavement
removal and excavation and had begun
work on the storm sewer.

Pedestrians can access businesses on<
the north side where a 5’ width of sidewalk will be maintained. Pouring the concrete paving for the north roadway will begin on the east and progress west. When the north roadway is complete, likely around mid-September, new sidewalks will be installed also working from east to west. Crews are starting on the east end in hopes of being ready for “Party on the Pavement” October 3.
